LINK19 College works in close partnership with Ifield School.  Ifield School is a foundation co-educational special school for 223 pupils aged 4 to 19 years with profound, severe and complex needs (PSCN), including communication & interaction difficulties. Currently, there are 228 pupils on roll. The majority of pupils have learning difficulties associated with autism, speech, language and communication difficulties and some have complex medical conditions.

In January 2015, Ifield School became one of the founding members of KSENT, a Co-operative trust for Kent Special Schools.

Facilities

Ifield School is set amongst attractive landscaped gardens with hard and soft play areas. It has many specialist rooms including Speech and Language, Science, Design Technology, Food Technology, Music, Dance and a Sports Hall.  A hydro therapy pool is located within the school and it also has a log cabin known as Ifield Life, located within the grounds to support pupils’ learning of valuable life skills. It also has a unique off-site development known as The Simon Harrison Woodland, a beautiful scenic haven set in the heart of the woods which is used for curriculum extension activities such as camping, Forest Schools, vocational opportunities, PE and outward bound courses.  The school is all at ground floor level and is ramped to give access to pupils with wheelchairs or who have difficulties walking on steps. The school has a visiting Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist who work with a small number of pupils and it has visiting teachers to support pupils with hearing loss and visual impairment and who give advice to teachers and support staff in meeting the needs of these pupils.

Due to the collaborative working practices of the school and LINK19 College, learners benefit greatly from the strong links with the main site of Ifield School and the valuable resources and expertise the school has to offer. An array of highly trained staff are available to learners, including speech and language therapists and an occupational therapist.
